John Dickerson, Partner Consultant. John began an illustrious career beginning with his first job at The Arc of South Dakota in July of 1973. Later, John joined The Arc of Indiana as executive director. John grew The Arc of Indiana to over 22,000 members and 44 local chapters statewide and over 45 chapters of Self Advocates of Indiana. Throughout this effort, John worked closely with other disability advocacy groups, partnered with INARF the provider organization and pushed outreach efforts in diversity and outreach. John counts as one of his successes the ability to work with six governors, six superintendents of the Department of Education, 21 secretaries of the Family and Social Services Administration and hundreds of legislators – from all political parties – to continually improve the lives of Hoosiers. He took that experience in 2015 and ran for the United States Senate in the Democratic Primary which was a remarkable experience and ended in January 2016. His goal now is to work to bring about sustainable change that continues to discover new answers on how we can make dreams possible and a life of opportunity for all possible.
